LEONI is an experienced systems partner to the automotive industry when it comes to the development and production of wiring systems and electronic solutions. In the area of power distribution, we offer modular solutions for all voltage levels that meet the technological and economic requirements of new architectural concepts for the vehicles of today and tomorrow.
Our power distributors are developed by advanced engineering tools and rapid prototyping methods. By integrating electronics, we can optimize functionality and implement, for example, intelligent safety concepts and power management with improved diagnostic features. Each product is developed to fulfill the specific requirements of the customer - taking into account weight, cost and packaging savings.

In terms of automated driving, reliable and safe energy supply has never been more indispensable in the wiring system: A minor fault, such as a voltage drop caused by a short circuit, would have serious consequences.
Intelligent power distribution solutions provided by LEONI ensure a safe and reliable power supply using the latest technologies. Due to their high modularity and LEONI's system expertise, the intelligent power distribution boxes enable new types of E/E architectures. Besides reducing the cost, size, and complexity of the wiring system, they also offer the possibility of optimizing availability, functional safety, and the CO2 footprint.
LEONI offers scalable solutions for various use cases:
Intelligent Pre-fuse
iPDS (intelligent Power Distribution Switch) ensures the power supply for safety-critical functions in the vehicle and thus provides the basis for automated driving. The availability of safety-critical systems in case of faults, failures or short circuits is guaranteed by switching (on/off) non-safety-relevant parts or loads of the wiring system.
LEONI offers various technical concepts and design solutions that are optimized in terms of vehicle platform and specific model requirements. An innovative power distribution design ensures robust and reliable plug-ins in the combination of fuse and wiring system and result in simplified assembly. Fuse and relay boxes by LEONI resist to harsh environments, high temperatures and aggressive media without loss of function. The portfolio of electromechanical power distribution solutions also includes components for pre-fuse protection, which are usually equipped with high-current fuses from 40 to 500 A. LEONI develops, manufactures and supplies pre-fuse boxes with MEGA fuses, pyrotechnical switches or also with multiple fuses, depending on system requirements and vehicle use.
Future high-voltage wiring systems require reliable, robust and safe power distribution due to their constantly growing complexity. The use of HV splices and HV power distribution boxes to reduce possible sources of failure and consequently to optimize weight, packaging space and EMC are a key to success in such HV architectures. At LEONI these include, among other things, auxiliary components (HV splices), charging and traction harness components for larger wire cross-sections. A typical splice can distribute power to several HV components (e.g. from 5 A to 300 A and up to 800 V DC) and includes safety devices.
LEONI uses single-core and multi-core cables with low contact resistances for EMC shielding and for high-voltage connections. With one input and two outputs, the LEONI Y-splice in hybrid and electric vehicles, for example, enables power to be routed directly to the auxiliary units. This component is small, light and cost-effective and enables efficient expansion of the high-voltage network.
The protection of electric circuits and the distribution of energy in the vehicle's electrical system require tailor-made robust solutions. LEONI components enable the protection and safe distribution of electrical power as components of our power distribution systems. Our many years of experience and expertise ensure, among other things, the provision of reliable electrical contact elements and connections for connecting printed circuit boards (PCB), fuses, relays, wiring, connectors, and busbars. To integrate conducting fusing sub-components, to reduce the number of components and to simplify assembly, LEONI offers multiple fuses in the range of 40 A to 300 A and application-specific connectors with direct contacts.
